Fall  2009 - Class  Schedule

 

Fall classes begin, Monday, September 14, 2009. The fees are as follows:

  • An Eight-week class is $125 for Members and $155 for Non-members, membership included.

  • A Six-week class is $100 for Members, and $130 for Non-members, membership included.

  • An On-going class is $10 for Members per class and $12 for Non­members, or join for $30.

Monday

9 AM to Noon

Awesome Acrylics with Myra Knight. (An on-going, weekly class) Learn to create some awesome acrylics by applying new techniques and sharing ideas. Relax and have fun with this versatile and adaptable medium - no experience necessary.

1 PM to 4 PM

What's Up With Watercolor?  with Virginia Dekle. (An on-going, weekly class) All skill levels welcomed to enjoy and explore this medium in the friendly company of other painters, while Virginia shares her talent, encourages and enlightens.

Tuesday

9 AM to Noon

Painting the Human Form  with Damaris Anderson. (8 weeks) Our focus will be on creating a painting of the human form from a live model. This class will paint with a full, color-spectrum oil palette, studying the human form in darks to lights, paying attention to proportions, composition and aesthetics.

1 PM to 4 PM

Wednesday

9 AM to Noon

Basic Classic Drawing  with Barbara Thomas. (6 weeks) Working from still-life set-ups, we will explore the basic elements of drawing: line, value, perspective, pattern & shape, texture and color to create the illusion of three dimensions on paper. All skill levels invited.

1 PM to 4 PM

Colored Expressions  with Nancy Wininger. (8 weeks) Learn basic colored pencil techniques, step by step, and move on to experiment with variations, to create your own vibrant artwork.

6 PM to 9 PM

Digital Photography with Gene Sellier. (6 weeks) This class covers the fundamentals of photography and how they apply to the digital camera. We will cover the physical aspects of the digital camera as well as composition, portraits, landscapes and action photography. Popular software programs and computer requirements will be reviewed along with reviewing and critiquing some photographs.

Thursday

9 AM to Noon

Beginning Sculpture with Fran Neumann. (6 weeks) Working from imagination, photo reference and basic body proportions, students will sculpt the human figure from water-based clay, either self-hardening or terracotta that can be fired. The result will be a sculpture that accepts paint, or a sealer, for a lasting finish. No experience necessary, but previous drawing practice is helpful.

1 PM to 4 PM

Sumi-E Painting – Exploring Oriental Strokes  with Maria Papp (8 weeks) Introduction to an ancient art that will take you from Chinese calligraphy to a full description of The Four Treasures and The Four Gentlemen in theory and practice. You will learn how to use rice paper and natural brushes with Sumi (black ink).

6 PM to 8 PM
