Photography Show Judge
Terry Hartley
Born and raised in Mobile, Terry’s interest in photography began as a freshman in high school at McGill-Toolen. His interest in birds began about twenty five years ago when he and hisvwife Jennifer moved into a home on the western shore of Mobile Bay. Their next door neighbor had been an avid birder for many years. Her passion for protecting birds and their environment was inspiring. About ten years ago he bought his first digital camera and shortly after that a large telephoto lens. Living in one of the best locations in the world for "bird watching", the photographic opportunities are almost endless. When he is not enjoying the outdoors, Terry stays busy as President of Hartley Brothers Mfg., a commercial cabinet manufacturing business that he began with his brother, Jim, in 1984.
As the immediate past president of Camera South Photography club, Hartley was awarded first place inthe statewide Outdoor Alabama photo contest for his stunning photo of a Snowy Egret that also appeared on the cover of the February 2007 issue of Outdoor Alabama magazine. He also won first place in the “bird photography” category in 2008 and 2009. His work has been selected for numerous exhibits and shows, including juried exhibits at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope and the Mobile Museum of Art, and he currently has an exhibit at Five Rivers Delta Resource Center. In 2004, Hartley was awarded a Mobile Press Club Award for magazine photography for his work in Mobile Bay Monthly magazine.
