2011 Fall Classes

***Fall Art Classes***

Fall Classes 2011

Six Week classes begin the week of September 19 and end the week of October 31.

Eight Week classes begin the week of September 12 and end the week of November 7.

Monday AM

No Brush Painting—Let’s Use a Palette Knife (Acrylic) with Jane Sellier.  9AM to Noon (6 Weeks-Begins  Sept. 19 to Oct 31)

A brush is the most obvious implement for applying paint but paint can also be put on with a knife made for the purpose. Knife painting is an exciting and expressive technique and it creates effects quite different from any which can be achieved with a brush. The knife squeezes and flattens the paint on the surface creating energetic and lively effects. Like brushstrokes, the marks can be varied according to their direction, size or the amount of pressure you apply or the thickness of the paint.  Join in the fun, learn something new to enhance your acrylic paintings!

Wednesday AM

How to paint like you . . . . . . . only better  (Oil Paint)  with Ted Burn  9AM to Noon  8 Weeks (Sept. 14 to Nov. 9)

Every painter has a potential style that is unique to them and when they develop properly could produce some spectacular work.

In my class I plan to create projects that will help each artist to develop their style while learning some techniques and tools that will help you to improve your work. In some instances we might copy another artist to learn what they were thinking about when they did their work.  We will paint from our own photographs and learn how to turn an average shot into a much better painting. We will also paint from still life while learning how to build a dramatic and more simple still life. Sometimes very simple things can make a really good painting.  We will learn how to use color to add depth, how to use edges to lead a person around the painting and how to use space to create drama.

That's a lot to teach (and learn) in an 8 week course. I plan to continue the class in 8 week segments on a regular basis.

We will definitely have fun and will "all" learn together. Yes, the teacher learns stuff, too.

Some experience recommended.
